Sequoiadendron giganteum 'Hazel Smith'

Sequoiadendron giganteum 'Hazel Smith' (Sequoiadendron giganteum (Giant redwood))

I'm still not 100% confident this would survive a hard winter but it sure is a cool looking tree.

Nice color. What is the medium you are planting these evegreens in RKwright?.

The cedars and sequoia are planted in sandy-loam, which is what I like for most evergreens. I have a lot of clay on the other side of the yard and like to avoid planting anything but junipers and spruce in clay. The sequoia likes it drier than coastal redwood, in a damp-cool region it would probably have fungus on the scales but the 'Powdery Blue' and 'Hazel Smith' are supposed to be more resistant to cercospora leaf spot (also what the crepe myrtles get).
