Blakea gracilis Flower

Oh, lovely flower!!!

Yes, it is. The photo can't do it justice at all! The flower is white with a little blush. This plant is in the Melastomaceae family (in same family as Tibouchina, Melastoma, and Medinilla).

The flower looks as if it is "waxy" - is it?

Yes, it does have a waxy-looking flower. It always reminded me of a small single Camelia flower.

This is the first time in the 13 years I've had it, that its produced so many flower buds. The leaves burned a little in the heat wave last week. I need to keep it under the shade structure, as we're in for severe heat wave over the next week or so (starting tomorrow).
