well, Fran, it is evident you are practical person. cross was always given either at the crossroad, or in some busy part of the road. Sometimes in forests, but never in the middle of the field.:)

very nice and peaceful. is there a reason for the cross being in the middle of the field? it must make mowing round it a bit awkward!
