Little blue rockery plant...

Little blue rockery plant...

...I still don't know what it is...

It is Bacopa, a trailing plant used in hanging baskets and pots.

Ah, thanks Cinders...I've only seen it in white before...
I suppose that means that it's not hardy, then?

1 Jun, 2012

No its not unfortunately.

1 Jun, 2012

Darn!!! I'll probably never see it in this colour again! :(

So pretty, I read that unlike many plants, bacopa does not wilt when dry. Instead, it loses its flowers and may take two or three weeks to begin blooming again.

That's actually true, Denise...although I wouldn't have thought about it until you mentioned it. It was really hot and dry when I planted the pond rockery up - and when everything else was wilting come 5pm...this stayed upright and happy. It didn't have may flowers then, but now it has loads!

Why don't you try taking some cuttings from it Karen, if you have room to look after them through the winter, you might be lucky and make new plants for next year.

I've only just taken my first cutting, D...weigela...so I'm a complete novice. But, why not - nothing ventured, nothing gained! :)

Worth doing Karen, They are great in baskets.

Would this come under 'project greenhouse', Pim? ;)

1 Jun, 2012

Depends....Have you got a greenhouse? Lol

Oh she will, she definitely will :)))
Poor Nigel ;)))

Saves money in the long run..... ;)

very pretty Karen

That was my argument, Pim...
Et voila! Done and dusted...well, the deal at least... ;)

Thanks Paul! :)))

You know that you should always get twice the size you think that you need ?

1 Jun, 2012

Lol.....wish I could be a fly on the wall during that discussion...
'But darling, Pimp said we should get twice the size'. LOL!!! :))))

1 Jun, 2012

Haa ha that's right blame ME! But it it almost certainly a true fact...Especially if you have as many plant urges as Karen..Lol

1 Jun, 2012

LOLOL! When you say that out loud it sounds TERRIBLE!!!! :D

Somebody else told me that, Pim...(I'm missing out the p at the end to save any future trouble! lol!)...but I've only got limited space...although I was thinking about turning the end of the porch into a temporary winter GH with heavy duty plastic sheeting...you know for plants which just need a bit of protection. And having a proper GH which will fit into the available space.

I've already got loads of things which need a GH! :s

Lol....you're just making it worse Pimp. Now how is she supposed to tell Nigel about her many 'urges'?? ;)))

You can consider the Weigela done and dusted. They take really easy and I've found that the Physocarpus took really easy too. I had them just lying around in a wee sheltered spot in the garden.
You have to give this a bash - it would be a real shame not too.
Have you considers taking as many cuttings as you can just now and have them all lying around - in the way - which could also lend weight to your argument :)

1 Jun, 2012

I'll be snip-happy, Scottish!! :)))

Oops! Sorry, Cinders...I just realised that it's you I should thank for the cuttings tip! Mistook the colour of your avatar - please forgive me! :)

Thank you, Esmael.

And I've just noticed that last remark, Lil...it must have crossed over...you're a very, very wicked woman...! ;))))

3 Jun, 2012

I've never made any claims to the contrary Karen :)))
