Wisteria in all its morning glory

Wisteria in all its morning glory

If only mine would flower like that, sigh. I'm hoping they are just waiting to mature and then they will flower. I bought one in pink, one white and one blue. All nice healthy plants. I have followed the pruning regime rigourously and still no flowers. Thank goodness I can enjoy all the lovely blooms on Goy.

I can't take much credit for this wisteria, girls. All I do is prune it...but I am so happy that it came with the garden. :)))

I've got a pink one waiting to go in the ground, Sg...but it might take a year or two to flower. I planted a blue one last year and it gave a couple of flowers this spring - not many. But these are quite large plants...already more than 6' when bought.

The best one I ever had is nine years old now and has been flowering for eight of them, at my old house. The washing machine outlet went through the wall and out at the base of the tree. I think that's why it did so well.

I don't think we can reroute the plumbing even to aid my wisteria. It is interesting that they took a couple of years to flower. I'll just live in hope and enjoy everybody else having them.

I think they also like the limestone in the soil here, Sg...I don't know if there's a way that you can add that element in a feed or whatever?

I keep meaning to get some of this - how much room do I need ? be nice I thought along shed

I'd need to think about that Karen because I have clematis etc also growing in the pergola.

Both clematis and wisteria do really well in the soil we have here. In fact, the wild clematis can sometimes be a bit of a nuisance...

That should be alright then. We knocked down a building and the old mortar was limestone mortar and the plants love it. An old gardener explained it was dead lime and would not burn the roots. I'll try some of that and see how it goes.

That sounds like it should work - good luck! :)
