Thanks Gnarly. As the garden is on a slope, you can see right down it through the window. There's a big concrete shed on the right (originally a garage) but the garden continues round the bottom so it's sort of an 'L' shape.
Pete, yes it is a climbing hydrangea. It's just had a 'big chop' in March. It was so huge you couldn't get past on the path and it was ruining part of the lawn, so we cut it down by about a third!! Probs lost loads of flowers but never mind, it had to be done

It was already there when we bought the house Paul, but it's actually a lot wider in reality than it looks on the photo. In it I've got: 3 climbing roses, climbing hydrangea, peony rose, hardy fuchsia, kerria japonica, bluebells, oh and about 200 lilies of the valley!!!

I've just recently got rid of lots of pink cranesbill (hardy geraniums) out of that area as well. lol

looks nice and neat and tidy:-) unlike mine!
