Heron causes more digging

I'm looking to make this pond of ours a bit deeper - Mr and Mrs Heron are constantly picking off the fish :-(

But still, it's only around 3 to 4 feet deep and would feel after digging out before buying the bigger more expensive varieties...

Homebird, we did just that very thing last year and have not had any problems since - trouble is, it was a bit like fitting a burglar alarm after the burglary as it were :-)
