For some reason, these three are in full flower while in other parts of the garden, there's barely a shoot showing through the soil

Vincent - I usually put the staking in if there is heavy rain forecast to prevent the new growth from being battered down. Later in the season, it keeps the leaves from smothering anything growing close by
