Thanks Val. They are very happy this year. All three of them have two flower spikes and I see two more growing on the main spikes.

Thank you Sheilar.

Wow! Those are spectacular!

Do you fertilize them?

Thank you Homebird...looks better every day as more of the purple flowers open.
Next year will be even better, I have a yellow cream (I think) that I saved from my mom next to these.

Thanks Delonix,
I started fertilizing them every other watering from last spring. I wanted to see if it made a difference and it did.

I've always read orchids need a lot of feeding. I never feed mine. Although, I may have to start, to get my orchids to bloom again.

I never use to feed mine either. They use to bloom, one spike per year....they have gone mad now with the feeding. ;o)))))))))

I'm definitely going to start feeding my orchids. I want large flower spikes by spring, on all my orchids.

Good plan.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong with my Cymbidium!

I have two Erythrina Indica seeds that have germinated so far.

I know Cymbdiums like fertilizer...however, they need to grow outside. They absolutely need cooler nights to bloom well.

I think Erythrina indica is one of the more tropical species. They're all pretty tropical, except for E. crista-galli. There's so many Coral trees (Erythrina species) blooming here right now. I've even seen the E. falcata trees in full bloom in Balboa Park (now). E. falcata is one of the few summer-blooming Erthrina species.

I had it outside up until that really cold weather started. I have a better spot for it this summer and a cooler spot for the winter. Now I wait for next years flowers.

Well since I have two seeds that have germinated so far, one for a pot and one for the garden.

Cymbidiums are very hardy. They tolerate quite a bit of freezing temps.
