It's looking good Alex :o))

Thanks Amy, I was so relieved when I saw the shoots. I had the seeds sent over from the US last year....I did not want to lose this plant to the cold!

Mine took a hardish frost before christmas and has come back strongly once it was back in the conservatory - so much so that it has flower buds already!

It's a tough plant!

10 Feb, 2012

I'm playing it safe this year. One in the garden and one in the house.

10 Feb, 2012

Alex - don't forget that Delonix thinks that anything that can withstand +10°c is tough!!!!!!!!!!

10 Feb, 2012

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.......thanks for that.

10 Feb, 2012

No probs! I really feel for him having to endure all that heat - I'd much rather have this snow to deal with!!

10 Feb, 2012

I hope you're kidding. I've had it with winter this year. The snow over in Albania has reached the middle of the mountains....this is not good. Cold for us (again).

I will welcome our heatwaves with a smile this summer!

I was being ironic!!!

10 Feb, 2012

I'm glad.....

Meanie:

You're correct! I do think anything plant that can withstand +10°c is a very tough plant! lol! :>)

It has been pretty much a non-winter year here in San Diego...it's been consistently and unusually warm even for here. But starting today the weather is much cooler, it's only going to be 66ºF/19ºC. and a little cooler tomorrow. BRRRRR!!!!

11 Feb, 2012

We will be baking next week too - it could hit 8°c by the end of the week!

12 Feb, 2012

Baking at 8°c! We sure have different meanings of "baking". Baking to me is 90ºF/32ºC. (and that's in winter).

12 Feb, 2012

Being ironic again Delonix!!!!

12 Feb, 2012

I would think you crazy; if you weren't being ironic.

13 Feb, 2012

I'm sure there are people out there that do like the cold.!?
Somewhere.....???

13 Feb, 2012

Alexandramou:

Yes, they live in the foothills and mountains, where it gets cold and snows.

14 Feb, 2012

Brrrrr.......

14 Feb, 2012

Or Greenland!

Alexandramou:

The San Diego County high mountains received 8in (20cm) of snow last night. It was very chilly last night here, too. However, the high here today is going to be 68ºF/20ºC., which is a far cry from all the 80ºF/27ºC days we've had this winter.

Wow, I'm thinking about moving to California. I would loooove hot weather all year and I could grow all those beautiful plants outdoors without worry. Never miss the cold....brrr.

17 Feb, 2012

Well, you have to remember: there's many micro-climates in California. Even here in San Diego County, there's many micro-climates...although, the urban areas of San Diego the climate is so mild one doesn't really have to be concerned about cold. Many very tender plants find a good home here.

Today is going to be a nice day with highs around 73ºF/23ºC....then cooler for a few days, then highs back up around 77ºF/23ºC next week.

I'm thinking about that house down the block from you that has a for "sale sign". ;o)))

18 Feb, 2012

There's a lot of homes for sale around here. The foreclosure rate is still high. There's actually a house for sale next to my across-the-street neighbor. :>)

18 Feb, 2012

Another cold weekend here Delonix ...

... could be some sun-seeking GoYer's will be house-hunting across the street from you ;o)

18 Feb, 2012

Terratoonie:

Sorry to hear about the cold! I guess after all the mild weather there; the cold weather kicked in.

It's quite possible the GoYer's will be house-hunting here in sunny San Diego, CA. :>)

18 Feb, 2012

It's the coffee beans that I'm really after....lol. ;o)

Across the street sounds really good. I hope your tree is in tip top shape!

18 Feb, 2012

Well, if you lived across the street, you would be getting all the coffee beans. :>)

My coffee tree is still having major issues. I talked to a certified nurseryman at my favorite nursery. He said it could be a problem with the root system. The branches are still dying back. Although, there's been some new grow all around the tree now...which is good news.
