Well, you know how much I love these...... Mine (in their vases) are all but over, but they've been flowering in batches since beginning of December.
That's a beautiful blue one. Is it 'Delft'?

Thankyou meanie, Bloomer and Ojibway. They do have a very powerful scent but in a larger room it's not a problem. This one is a lovely purply blue. It just says 'Blue Hyacinth' on the label. I just love your Hyacinth vases Ojibway and have been looking around for some but no luck yet.

I love Hyacinth ... comes in such pretty colours. I must confess though that I have never grown one. We can grow them in the garden here in NZ, or as indoor houseplants .... are you able to grow them outdoors in UK?

Yes Dwyllis we put them into the garden when they have finished flowering and they will come into flower again next year but a couple of months later. I have several in the garden from past years Christmasy ones.

It wouldn't surprise me Janey, it's getting stronger by the hour. Good job it's in the conservatory or it would have to go outside for the night.

This one seems so much stronger than ones I have had before Pim. I do love the colour though.

Thanks everyone for your comments. This one has such a strong scent it's wafting through the whole of the downstairs. I worried that it might set my mums asthma off when she called today but she seemed ok even though she slipped down the step on the way out......intoxicated by the scent no doubt....... :o)

:)
Hyacinths, as well as for instance rhododendrons or peonies, are not so dangerous for people with respiratory allergies. Their pollens are not dangerous, they are too "heavy" to fly around for hours.
Theey are the bulbs, sap and leaves of the hyacinth that contain allergenic components. But they cause allergy if they are touched.
