They make a lovely Christmas decoration Angela , we haven't had a real Chrismas tree for years , we have a realistic looking one ,as much as I like the real ones it seems such a waste of a tree ..

That was one job always left to my OH Sandra he was a farmers son and knew about those things .. life was simpler in those days don't you think ,not so much worry !

it was simpler,Amy..expectations weren't as high, and no fancy food around..just plain and wholesome..and certainly not the money to do it with,either..remember when chicken was a luxury ? I still prefer traditional meals..:o)

Me to Sandra , a chicken was a luxury at Christmas, they tasted like chicken as well didn't they ,in fact everything tasted better and not a thing wasted , when you see the piles of food that are thrown away today and the rubbish they eat it makes you cringe , nuts and an orange plus a few bits and pieces if you were lucky in your stocking ,a book was a treat and we looked after and treasured whatever we had . it might make people think again if they have to tighten there belts with this economy !

I agree,Amy..As long as I got a book and a jigsaw,I was happy...We would probably have been the same as today's children though..constantly bombarded with ads,etc..don't know why some parents give in to them so much..and they say there's no money about..! ..rant over..:o)

I don't know how the parents can do it without getting into so much debt....My Mum taught us to save all year for Christmas, so it was easier on our pockets...and I would rather do that even today...I don't like debt...We have no Credit cards I cut mine up years ago...and early planning means we're ready for Christmas now, without the rush and stress all shopping done, except fresh Veg, and some of that will come from the garden...
Merry Christmas all....
ps Amy love Teasel too
