Ah, Bless you, Janey, when I was that age, the camera hadn't been invented.......She had a startling habit of taking her knickers off in public, which (I sincerely hope) she's grown out of now that she's nearly 40!

What a lovely photo! It should be an advert by The Department of Agriculture to promote more people to "grow their own!" Puts me in mind of the books I used to read as a child with illustrations of lovely smiley chubby little girls with fat legs. The name escapes me (like everything else these days!) but I bet someone will remember?

That's it! Well done, Nariz! I'm sure my budding gardener would not be very happy to hear that - if she knew who Mabel Lucy Attwell was, that is: Which she doesn't! She's now a skinny, leggy, elegant, completely-uninterested-in-gardens-except-to-sunbathe-in-them nearly 40-year-old professional business woman. Breda - she was never lovely or cuddly - she was a very intelligent, difficult little girl with a mind of her own from an incredibly early age. She hasn't changed much, but she has, thank goodness, stopped taking her knickers off in public. ;-))
