Grass Improving

Grass Improving

Quite a lot of improvement from when I top-dressed a couple of weeks ago and today I reseeded the area on the right to reduce the size of the border.

Thank you both...yes, it is, and only just over a week since I put nearly four bags of top dressing on this area! Most of it has 'disappeared' already!

Yes, I hope they aren't ready yet, it will be sad to have to pick them! Think I'll just take one at a time!

Reducing an area of border? That doesn't sound like you, Karen!!!

I just couldn't get it to work for me Wagger, so I thought 'aha', what about reducing the size...makes it easier to look after as well.

1 Sep, 2011

That was just the thought going through my mind Wagger!

lol...what are you all like...I'm not THAT bad!! :)) I still have some lawn....in fact, compared to my Mum I am a lawn fanatic!! :))

very inviting, i like the way you have designed it,one path to the deck and another one, understated, going down to the end of the garden. Wells

Thank you Wells, there's another little path..to the greenhouse, hidden in this photo.

I think that will make your garden look even bigger. I did the same thing in Wilby, put some lawn back in the centre of the figure 8 shape and was really surprised at the size effect.
Why does it have to rain at weekends?? I hate doing housework on Sundays. Friday was a beautiful day here, it's just not fair....grumble, grumble, grumble!!

4 Sep, 2011

It's looking fantastic Ks, always so neat too. Is your apple tree a dwarf? :-)

6 Sep, 2011

Yes BA. I have five dwarf fruit trees, three apples (one is a fan-trained in the front garden), a pear and a sweet cherry. Only the apples have been productive so far, although the pear has produced about 4 fruit for the first time ever this year! I get a very few cherries and they never ripen. The birds always take them.

Do you get much problem with insects?:-)

7 Sep, 2011

How's the new bit of grass looking? Take a pic from the same spot for us ;O)

12 Sep, 2011

I was just thinking exactly that Annie...just waiting for the wind to drop a bit...the new grass is up and green! Did another patch the other day, so just waiting for that to germinate now...right over on the other side of the greenhouse. S came out and told me off, said I was 'wasting my time' as the grass is never going to be great so I should just 'accept' it....I think he is totally fed up of taking all my rubbish to the dump!! Anyway, I replied "Wasting my time? Gardening? Wasting my time?" you can imagine my tone of voice, incredulous and horrended, and he fled indoors!! lol :))))

I have to put up with Derek's advice as he tends the cricket square once a year making him a fully qualified groundsman...Lol! He knows not to touch my lawns ;o)
