Overwintered outside wrapped up but not doing as well as usual .Will bring it in this year

I would think where you live it should tolerate a lot of sun. They grow in full sun here...although, they look a little better with partial sun (especially inland).

Do you dig it out of the ground? Doesn't it have a big root system.

I dug quite away out from the fern and worked my way to make sure .Its now in quite a large pot .And theres a large whole in the garden .
It wasn't doing to well where it was quite protected and dry and according to RHS website it roots were drying out one reason for small and not many fronds
So in pot back where it used to be where it was doing well
