Love the rocks and the forest backdrop.

Good start there Lori...The stream and bridge, close by..and the rest of the view across to the Woods...nice..

I just didn't have the strength or stamina to keep that area closest to the woods cut down... in the early spring I took out as many of the dandelions as I could with the weed whipper...then kept the patches of asters uncut so they could live to bloom in the autumn...then I just let it go to see what would develop. The prettiest surprise was the tall frothy grass...it was purplish red and matured to a beige haze..I like it, don't think I'm going to cut it until late fall. Then I'll take all of it down...cut it back for next spring so I don't have a lot of raking like I had this spring.Will keep the same areas cut and start making more flower areas and plant some more shrubs and maybe a cherry tree. Cut back a lot of ash seedlings this spring and they've rebounded so it looks like I'll be doing that again!

This looks great. Really great size to the bed, I love that. You can have big drifts! I do like what you've chosen to do, letting things flower out, even the grass. You've got such a huge space... :-)

It really does sound good Lori...Lot of work for you, but you've made such a great start...and the fact that you're pleased with all that's going on is a bonus...well done...

Hi Gt...glad you found my page. The whole lot is about 8 acres...and most of it is bush...but there is more grass (lawn) than I can cut...but hopefully I can get it all planted and all I'll have to cut will be the paths!...I'm having mucho fun!
Crissue: Thanks for the positive reinforcement! I don't think I'll live to finish it...there is enough work for 30 years here! Going to poke along at my usual pace and hope for miracles.
