After 2 weeks in France the grass was sorely in need of a cut!

Good looking grass.

Haha...it was about 10 inches long and so thick it took several hours to get it back to normal height!
This summer has been so wet here - we were actually worried that after 2 weeks in France neglecting the garden it would be parched...Scottish weather!

The best thing for grass though and you have no weeds.

The garden used to slope off sharply so when we created the terrace we used the lifted turfs to build up in layers but we were still not quite level.
We ordered a couple of tonnes of unscreened top soil from a builders merchants to build up to the level it is now but now we're plagued by dock leaves. A couple of weed killer treatments have brought the grass on well and killed any other weeds but the dock leaves remain...
...any advice for eradicating these nuisances?

To be fair the photo doesn't suggest we have a problem but the dock leaves are in there...the grass had just grown faster!

Dock leaves have long tap roots so if you have a lot digging them out is not practical?
Keep the grass mown that will weaken them. In the growing season you can treat your lawn with selective weedkiller which will kill the broadleaf weeds but not the grass. Keep the children from playing on the lawn till your first cut after application although I preferred not to use chemicals with young children!
