9 Jul, 2011

Beautiful ... I do like those dark leaved Dahlias very much. : o )

9 Jul, 2011

Me too Shirley, this is one part that will be completely changed for next year, cannot wait to get started, but we keep getting people asking to come round still lol, managed to do one flower bed, took everything out and changed the planting, will be fine by next year.......touch wood!!

9 Jul, 2011

Oh my goodness, you just don't sit still! Will your Robinia be staying?

9 Jul, 2011

Shirley the Robinia is still causing concern, the leaves are still falling, we are thinking of having 6ft lopped off the top, and perhaps when the hedge comes out, it would gain more moisture, it will be a sad day if we have to part with it. ☹

9 Jul, 2011

I really hope you manage to keep it ... such a focal point at the back of your garden ... and great for the birds too.

9 Jul, 2011

Won the Macleaya :)
What are you going to change in this area Dd?

10 Jul, 2011

hi d.d .......... still very stiff , but ploding on ............ and a big brusie on the u kow wot lol .hope your shrubs ok , mine just wont grow urggg

10 Jul, 2011

Cristina...poor you, will have to stand up for a few days.......have you got a Robinia also?Hi YDD glad you won the Macleya, it grows very large so watch out.......
As for what we are going to do Here goes.... we are taking out the privet hedge at the back of the garden and putting in a fence, then moving all the jungle plants back to the top of the garden against the fence, and moving all the trees, Foxglove, Tulip, Eucalyptus, Catalpa and putting them up near the fence too, then we will create another central flower bed where the jungle was.........taking out the gate between us and our our neighbour and putting in some trellis, moving the gate to the top of the garden where the shed is.......moving the shed to the other side of the garden, then using the old gate as a feature.......WELL you did ask lol

10 Jul, 2011

Well, I'm exhausted just reading of your plans, Dotty! Good luck with your garden transformation ... look forward to next year's visit! : o )))

11 Jul, 2011

OMG Dd, huge project, but you are creating more space, I wouldn,t fancy taking out the hedge, unless your using a digger, Is this all for next spring?

11 Jul, 2011

Shirley.....I know we must be mental......would love to see you again next year.
Ydd it will have to be done with a spade!! would not be able to use a digger, not enough room, will get a few prices, but we might have to do it ourselves lol

11 Jul, 2011

Here's a plan ... endless supply of cakes to anyone visiting with a spade in their hand ... I'm on my way! : o ))

11 Jul, 2011

12 Jul, 2011

Looks great, love it.
I want a Macleaya now too, if they are hardy.
Oh Dotty. You have a major project ahead, sounds like something we would take on, good luck.

14 Jul, 2011

The Macleaya arrived yesterday, what a bargain, 99p although postage was £3.50, it was well packaged to. It was in a 3" pot! but its tall and very healthy, about 3ft, anyway ive repotted it, it will be overwintered in the greenhouse :)

15 Jul, 2011

Brilliant Dee, bargain! I've bought some seeds, will set them in the Autumn. Might buy a plant too. Was yours a one off Dee or were there several available.

17 Jul, 2011

I think it was one off but there were others selling them, ill check it out for you..
Only seed available at the min dawnsaunt.

17 Jul, 2011

Thanks Dee. I went on Ebay too, clicked on Completed Listings and found your little plant, looking very healthy and now in your good care. That Ebayer had quite a few nice little plants, pity no more Macleaya but there were a few plants that took my fancy and as they combine postage, even better. Thanks for checking for me.

18 Jul, 2011

Yeah she did Dawn, even tho they were in 3" pots, they were tall and healthy..I think i should save her!

18 Jul, 2011

Good idea Dee. Im going to have a proper look tonight.

18 Jul, 2011

I love Ebay Dawn, had some bargains from there, also its great for sourcing plants hard to find in GCs.

18 Jul, 2011

I too am a great fan of Ebay, especially if you want something a bit different.

19 Jul, 2011

Its always worth a check on Ebay, isn't it Dotty.

24 Jul, 2011

Sure is I have one or two favourite sellers now.....
