HOSTA NO 5

I seems to me that slugs/snails do not eat hostas with a blueish tinge to them - I could be wrong though!

I've got a big 'un in the front garden that normally resembles a 'net' as well but for some reason this year, it's not too bad (could be the application of Murphy's Slugit earlier in the year).

I think you are right as well Sheila. I have found that to be true in my experience. I had a green one with a white edge, like your first photo, in my old garden. When it got to be a metre in diameter I decided to take it out as I needed space. Honestly, the weight of the roots was incredible! They really do get huge! Now I keep all my big leaved ones in pots, and only the small blue leaved ones go in the ground. So far, standing the pots on gravel, I have had no slug issues.

I have noticed the same with mine, could it also be because the leaves are too thick to bite?
