More Lupins

A lovely show ,they always look so summery .....

Lovely colours mine all seem to be purple sure I had other colours!!!!! funny thing is everything in the border where they are is purple or white too, its like they've changed to match the colour scheme,lol.

Ive found you eventually end up with just purple. Grew these from seed last Spring (Russell Hybrids) so this is their first proper year, lots of lovely colours.

They're really easy from seed... I sowed some Russell Hybrids last year too :P Although they look nowhere near as good as this!

Give it a go Skip, like Jennyfer says, they are easy to grow. You can set them in Autumn or Spring.
Maybe yours will be better next year Jennyfer. Mine are in clay.
I'm going to keep growing them so I always have the nice colours in Spring.

Ah, our soil is solid clay, but i have some alright topsoil in the bed where the lupin are... although it does still lean to the claggy/baking side of things. I'm hoping they will grow a bit for next year... I only have one flower spike on each of them... how many plants did you put together? I am still hopeless with my spacing :P

I believe they're OK in poor soil. I planted them out a couple of feet apart. How ever they survived -15 conditions last Winter, I just dont know.

I'm glad they did, they look splendid! It would be nice to hope for no more of these nasty long winters, but they seem to be here to stay :(
