I have to say that it is pretty impressive at the peak of blooming. Bjs, I wasn't entirely sure which cultivar this wisteria was, so after some research, I plumped for Wisteria floribunda 'Multijuga', purely because the colouring appeared most fitting. However, I would be glad of further postings naming the correct cultivar or variety should my research have been in vain!

Oh, and when is the best time to prune it, and how much? The tendrils have become quite sizeable and voluminous within the last few weeks, but I didn't want to damage it in any way.

Mary
I find my pink one high on maintenance by the time the flowers fade new growth can be well on its way up a near by Pear Tree and would easily make 8-10 ft if left unchecked so off it has to come.problem is in 6 to 8 weeks i have to do it all over again. and still a tidy up in autumn.of course you have to leave some mature growth for next years flowers.

Bjs, it appears that the flowers are beginning to fade, so now may be the time to start the pruning. Do you just cut back the tendrils or flowers too? And do you also cut back the main leaf growth? Again, as I mentioned to Paul in a previous post, it's a case of building confidence when tackling these tasks without thinking I might end up killing whatever I try to prune or transplant! I may do well to post a photograph of the extent of the growth for you to comment upon! :)

Mary by all means post a pic ,at this time of year it is the new growth that i cut back, not concerned about the flowers they are on old growth, how much you cut back depends on how much or where you have room for it to expand.
