?CHERRY BLOSSOM

My neighbour was putting this ?cherry blossom out with her rubbish but asked me whether I wanted it. It was in a sad state as it had been in a pot and was neglected. I put it in a bucket of water for a week to re-hydrate it, then hubby planted it in the garden for me. This is it's second spring with me and is very happy and well!!!

Is it actually a cherry blossom though? My neighbour seemed to think it was but my brother thought it could be a crab apple. So, is it a cherry or an apple? The foliage is dark green, then goes burgandy if that's of any help.

I'm sorry I can't see well enough from that photo.
Maybe another GoY member will ID it for you.. or put it on as a GoY Question and it will get answered there ...

It does look just like mine Sheila....but with more green in the foliage. I wonder if they are in fact different.....very closely related though. I shall google it and see what comes up! :))

.....Here's a link to a nursery that sells it with info. Grows to 8m eventually......I think I will have to prune it! lol! :)) And yes it does produce red fruits....perhaps we will get some this year!

Oh, and I think they are the same....perhaps difference in soil, maturity, climate or conditions is making mine more red leaved at the moment!
