Thinking of summer...had to post a pic of one of my favorite flowering trees. Photo taken Oct. 29, 2010.

Thanks! This is one of my favorite summer flowering trees (even though I've seen different trees bloom every month of the year here in San Diego). This tree is very strange as many seem to have their own bloom cycles.

Thanks! Yes, it's an incredible sight in person. It's pretty difficult to capture the true reds/oranges in the flowers with a camera.

I figured African Tulip trees would grow there. Our climates are very similar.
This tree is trimmed regularly...many are trimmed to keep them from getting too tall. African Tulip trees are very susceptible to being blown over in high winds.
A gigantic African Tulip tree blew over about 7 years in front of the Natural History Museum in Balboa Park during a big wind storm.
