Beccariophoenix madagascariensis - Giant Windpane Palm

Beccariophoenix madagascariensis - Giant Windpane Palm (Beccariophoenix madagascariensis - Giant Windpane Palm)

This is a very common collector's palm here in S. Cal. The fronds have a windowpane appearance when young...when this palm matures it looks very similar to a coconut palm. This is one of the many hundreds of palms which have been introduced from Madagascar over the last 25 years. Photo taken Feb. 11, 2011 at the San Diego Zoo.
