Aw....smashing photo of you both Tetrarch....my dress was very similar and the stripe too....1973, can't believe its 38 years!!

12 Jan, 2011

Yes Sticki, my something "borrowed", the cap came from a bank cashier I got to know with my job..she kindly lent it to me. My friend made the dress out of some fabric I bought for £6! Shows how long ago that was..cant beat you Janey, 30 years for us this year, but it is my second! I wouldve been married for 48 years if I hadnt divorced.
Bless you Yorkshire, I insult you and you still pay us a compliment, how generous is that? (Im sure you will pounce on me later lol!)
I like to keep him on tenterhooks, Milky, musnt look too keen...
Thank you everyone for your nice comments, it was a happy day, and every day since.

13 Jan, 2011

a tablet of carbolic is on it way Dear, please follow the instructions, don't think you got away with it that easy, ta dah !!!!

14 Jan, 2011

Lovely wedding photo and you both look very happy. You did very well with making your dress for £6. We didn't have much money to get married with so I borrowed my dress, made my own veil and my aunt made the bridesmaid dresses. We did all the buttonholed carnations at home, My uncle had a band who played for us in the evening and our wedding cars came free as my dad worked as a chaffeur. My personal opinion is that weddings are about people making a special commitment to one another, not about how big or small the do afterwards is. It's a joyful celebration....and you both as I said look very happy together.

15 Jan, 2011

Sorry Lindak..took a while to answer, hands were wet and mouth full of carbolic!!
Thank you we were and are still. And so right! My friend (a marvellous cook and table decorator) did the food. 3 Friends spent the night with me to help in the morning (my 17 yold son is a great kid but not good with hair and makeup), only had 2 beds so us 3 squeezed in a double! Such a laugh. OH best friend had lovely old car, so I arrived in style. The biggest compliment anyone could pay..we invited 100 people and they all turned up!!

15 Jan, 2011

Lovely picture Margo, sounds like you had a great day, made me laugh reading this, see the connection with carbolic soap now from your blog :-)

16 Jan, 2011

well spotted Simbad!! Im in disgrace with Yorkshire, Sticki and Alex, after calling Yorkshire a d...well it rhymes with York lol! My grandson's fav word of the moment..didnt have a clue what it meant mind you. Im still sticking to that even after torture hee hee!
Looks like my day liles have all survived..just a leetle bit concerned with Forever Jung..but we will see. How did all yours fair?

16 Jan, 2011

Lol :-)))
My daylilies all look fine, another thing I did yesterday cleared all the dead foliage, the evergreen ones had got a bit battered by the snow lots of the leaves looked a bit soggy so cut them back but all looks well underneath, new growth showing, just one I was a bit worried about one I paid quite a lot for 'Dick Kitchingman' it was fairly new so mulched it when the first snow hit pleased to say when I cleared the mulch yesterday new leaves are showing, can't wait for that one to flower, have you seen on ebay Snapdragon Plants has lots of his daylilies on starting price 3.99, might bid on Green Mystique, can't miss it at that price.
Hope all your iris are ok after the heavy rain you've been having.

16 Jan, 2011

Actually I may have wronged Sticki, it was Shirleytulip after my blood lol!
Glad your bestest one survived..pic later please! Im off to look at the daylilies.

16 Jan, 2011

Well since you didn't have a clue as to what the d... word meant we have no choice but to forgive you. It's getting Yorkshire to do the same... that might be hard!?!?!?

16 Jan, 2011

For you Alex, I forgive her. obviously the carbolic helped

16 Jan, 2011

Υοu are a darling Yorkshire....
It does seem like the carbolic helped. ;o)
I'm off for a walk with my little man. Let's see what I turn up with today. It's really windy out there today kind of making myself go for that walk.

Loved your wedding piccie, M...oh the memories :) You sure had a great find with your fabric and a good friend to make it up for you.

I'm off now to look up "that" word! I have heard it before but have no idea what it really means...lol Hope the mouth is all healed up from the carbolic soap...ouch!!!

This is the first time for days I've been able to get onto the GoY website without feeling like throwing the laptop out the window...it's still misbehaving and I've found no solution to it all as yet. But I'm here and just about managing to get caught up on some blogs/photos. Take care...won't be long until you'll be assembling that gazebo!
