Hibiscus tilliaceus 'rubra' - Mahoe (Hibiscus tilliaceus 'rubra' - Mahoe)

In Hawaii this Hibiscus becomes a very large tree to 80 feet/ 25 meters tall. This photo taken on Nov. 2, 2010 at Quail Botanical Gardens.

It doesn't grow any where near that size here in San Diego. Usually, it tops out about 20 ft/ 6 meters.

I've seen this Hibiscus in the rain forest of Hawaii. It does truly grow to become a giant tree.

In California, there's probably some which are approaching 30 ft/ 10 meters...however, 12ft/4meters is more the norm.
