Pterospermum acerifolium - Dinner Plate Tree, Bayur Tree

Pterospermum acerifolium - Dinner Plate Tree, Bayur Tree (Pterospermum acerifolium - Dinner Plate Tree)

This approx 60 foot/ 19 meters tall tree has very fragrant flowers and is blooming now. It has beautiful very large leaves...which are dark green on top and white felt-like below. It's still a rare tree in the U.S., although, it's starting to become slightly more available.
This Burma native is only known to grow two places in the U.S. -- Southern California and South Florida. Photo taken Sept. 29, 2010.
