You're both welcome. I tried taking a picture yesterday hanging half way out my car door....didn't come out too good....but my kids had a good laugh.

If I hung out the car window, it would end up on its side! Oh for a conservatory to grow this...

29 Sep, 2010

lol, thanks for the laugh. I would like a conservatory as well...but not the bougeinvillea in it.

Well I would put in a Jacaranda as well, praps a forest of them!

Alexandramou:

Great photo! Love the color on the Bougainvillea spectabilis!

Like Tetrarch says...Jacarandas and Bougainvillea look and grow very well together. Here they are commonly grown next to each other...as we have miles of street tree Jacarandas. In Spring, we're called the purple/blue city because of the millions of Jacarandas planted here.

Hi Delonix, Nice to meet you..cant wait for next spring where I am sure we can persuade you to post LOTS of pics of your Jacs..Ive got a fair few from my visit to Aus..but always have room for more..
I actually have a photo file just for Jacarandas and Bougeinvillia..

Tetrarch:

If you do a GoY search on Jacaranda or Bougainvillea...you'll see many of my posted photos.
: > )

I have a very old 50 foot/ 16 meters tall Jacaranda with almost the same spread in my front yard.

OMG thats big! and its either a helluva big backyard or there's nothing else in it!!!

Had a look at the jacaranda, wow that is a beautiful tree. Now I know why Tetrarch wants one.

Tetrarch, Alexandramou:

Thanks! : > )

My Jacaranda is difficult to photograph because of the 85 foot/25 meters tall Araucaria heterophylla - Norfolk Island Pine in the front yard. There's a 35 foot/ 11meters tall Magnolia grandiflora - Southern Magnolia in the front yard also.

You dont do "small" much in the US do you, lol!

Tetrarch:

The trees have been in the front yard many years, well before I moved in. lol!
: > )

I'm going to be taking many pics of my front yard in the next couple of days...keep an eye out. I have many big Kentia Palms - Howea fosteriana and bananas in the front yard also.

I guess its a question of semantics, a yard over here tends to be more towards a Courtyard which in most cases is handkerchief size!

Tetrarch:

It's the same here also. When one gets out of the city into the rural areas the yards are much larger.
