Jubaeopsis caffra - The Pondoland Palm

The Pondoland Palm is not too commonly grown...mostly by collectors because it's very expensive to buy. This South African native can grow to 30 feet / 10 meters tall here...however, in it's native Africa it can grow twice that height...and it resembles a coconut palm (which it's closely related). Photo taken at the San Diego Zoo on Sept. 9, 2010.
