Spliced dahlia ! (Park Princess)

In the winter, i forgot this dahlia was in the position i was digging around in and the upshot was i that spliced the tuber into bits :-/
I wondered what would happen if i popped them all back into the ground and .... voila !
Each of the 'bits' are growing nicely !

A novel way of splitting, but it sure worked.

Thanks folks !
Would you normally split them then, and like that, too ??

As long as there is an "eye" in each piece, they will grow. Normally the cut edges would be dusted with sulphur powder to prevent rotting...well done you!!

No chance of anything rotting here Alice :-/
The chance of that much moisture down there would be a fine thing ;-)
Clearly more luck than judgement ;-)

Love the colour. That's another one I lost last winter.
You can also put them in a box of compost early in the year and when they sprout you can take cuttings. Plant both tubers and cuttings. You'll soon have more than you need!
