Through the gate to the side garden.

Through the gate to the side garden.

Remember when we found this patterned path and turfed the right hand edge? It's looking much better now.

wow, lovely view!

Thanks - you all said the turf would 'take' and blend in, and it has!

Wonderful bit of paving there! The whole garden is absolutely wonderful.

Thanks - I think I wrote the blog before you arrived...there was a horrible yellow flowered plant across half this path and the grass, which it had killed...it's gone....and not regretted!

Yes, that's before my time. Wonderful now though! Great to discover something as nice as this and be able to rejuvenate it!

24 May, 2010

I was very dubious as to whether it would all work - but it did! :-))

24 May, 2010

Yes, it certainly did! btw....swimming every day? You have too much energy by half! Do you think you might have the soul of a Jack Russel Terrier? lol xx :))

I remember this too, it is looking really good now Spritz!

Thanks, Pg.

Karen, it was my 'stress-buster' when I was a Headteacher...I popped in on the way home and swam for half an hour every evening.

I only go occasionally now, as the pool is 20 miles away.... I can't spare the time to go more frequently. :-(((

Ah well, headteachers certainly need stress-busting! Parents evenings and all that.....bit like open garden days....;))

25 May, 2010

Ooohhh....well, not really, fortunately, as the 'dear parents' would come to me when they had a gripe...people coming to see the garden come to enjoy it (mostly!) Vive la difference! lol.

25 May, 2010

Ah yes, I can see what you mean!! Funny, you have always reminded me of another friend I have...lives in wiltshire...she is also a retired head-teacher!! Now I know why you remind me of her...two lovely funny ladies that make me laugh! You and her would get on fantastically well together I bet!! :)))

Well - thanks for the compliment! :-)))))

Thanks - it does make a difference, and I can hardly see the join where the turf went in! :-))

I didn't, Homebird - we retired here!! My garden in Kent was a lot smaller and had to be low maintenance.

29 May, 2010

Yes...and Henry was born on the same day that we moved to Somerset! What a lovely coincidence, wasn't it. :-))

29 May, 2010

:-))))

Looks so inviting Spritz and the old stone path is beautiful.......

Thanks, Janey - we were very lucky to inherit this kind of hard landscaping - our predecessors were very imaginative about the way they did it. :-)

The design looks Celtic and very old! Lovely to talk to you this morning Barbara...it always amazes me when we reply to each other straight away....all tapping away on the keys...Lol!

31 May, 2010

There are a few people around today - as you say, it's lovely to reply at once. :-))

Great pic, lovely garden - there's not much I want or envy in life, but I have to say, your garden is one of those rare things that give me a pang of longing! Because all I've got now is a balcony...

31 May, 2010

Awwwww........Bamboo - you can come down here and enjoy it at any time!!! :-)))

31 May, 2010

Was hoping to make your open day, but its not looking too good at the moment - it's this week isn't it

31 May, 2010

Yes, Thursday, but next Thursday as well. I 'do' hope you can make one of them!
