I love these dark red paeonies! gorgeous. Does this one sucker a lot?

Not sure yet Karen, Bj gave me this last autumn (i think it was then) so it's only been in a short while.
I knocked off a newly emerging shoot in the winter so it would have had 2 new flowers showing, but unsure of the suckering as yet, it's next to some Achillea so they'll be a power struggle going on there if so !!!

Right thanks, I ask because I used to have paonia delavayi in my old garden and I really loved it but it was a devil for suckering so I wouldn't have it here and this looks very similar so I thought it might be a suitable alternative....I will investigate...... :)

INteresting..had a look in google and there doesn't seem to be much info on this but what there is doesn't mention suckering. must be quite an unusual one is it Louise?

It could well be because Bj has a lot of unusual plants, if he doesn't look in on this blog i'll PM him and ask more :-)

No its not a problem in any way it never grows more than 24in high and spreads out quite slowly. It a Tenifolia hybrid i bought in Scotland back 89.how do i remember because I stayed in Lockerbie weeks before the air crash.

That was a close call for you then - in Lockerbie :-(
