Thats lovely, are they slow growing? just sent for some and wondered how long it'll take before they look as good as yours.

I think they are slow growing. We inherited all the peony trees when we bought the house, so I have no idea how old they are.

Lucky you, how many do you have?

We have 5 peony trees, Simbad. By the way I planted 3 peonies (herbaceous ones; Paeonia lactiflora) last month. According to the label, it takes 3 years for them to fully mature. My gosh, I don't want to wait that long~~ :( I have to be patient though~~~

5 how lovely are they all different colours?
I have a couple of the herbaceous ones Tommymoo a pink 'Sarah Berndhart'(probably spelt that wrong) and a white think they took three years to flower, but just get better every year now, loads of buds again can't wait, you'll have to look at all the peony pictures on here while waiting for yours :-)

The ones I've got are all pink. Must have been nice with different colours.. :) But can't complain, really because they are just stunning. Oh my God, I didn't know they won't flower for 3 years; I though they have at least a few flowers even at the beginning. I'm gutted~~. In that case, as you said, I have to comfort myself by looking at peony pictures on this site for 3 years. Ohhh nooooooooo. What a coincidence, Simbad; I bought the 'Sarah Bernhardt'!! The other 2 I bought were 'Bowl of Beauty.' I want white ones too. Can't wait~~~

That is a coincidence as I had bowl of beauty at my old house, Sarah Bernhardt is lovely and really heavily scented too, will be worth the wait :-)

Oh, double coincidence~~!

My tree peonies came a few weeks ago only paid £14.99 for 5 from a T+M offer in a daily paper, free postage too,was expecting tiny plants, well they were huge area wasn't prepared as thought I'd have to grow them on a bit, so had to pot them up in huge pots, all are growing brilliantly now.

That was a very good deal, Simbad! And fee postage! Wow. That was really a bargain. What colours did you buy if I may ask? My parents have a yellow one and it smells gorgeous. Hope to look at your new peonies in the huge pots, when you have the time, please :) By the way, one of my peony I bought and planted this spring (not the tree peony) had a tiny bud last month and that was a pleasant surprise. But others have no buds, and one of them is still small; it seems to be struggling for some reason. It's nice anyway to keep an eye on their growth :)
