believe it or not, Delonix1, I saw these plants on offer at a local grocery store!! they wanted too much for them... they had them put off in a corner and their perfume drifted around the produce department! Also found some dragonfruit on offer too... bought one... do I wait for it to dry out or extract the seeds while it's still fresh?

Lori:

I have seen this plant and many other beautiful orchids available at grocery stores, home improvement centers, and nurseries for around 15.00 - 20 dollars for this size plant.

Dragon fruit seeds need to be dried first, then planted quickly as far as I know. Most people here plant them from cuttings. They grow wild in many people's yards...usually growing up into tress for several feet. Good luck with the Dragon fruit seeds! : - )

Thanks D1...will give it a shot with the dragonfruit. btw..they wanted 29$ for the Cymbids... and they looked a little worse for wear... but they smelled wonderful.

Lori:

You're welcome! : > ) I hope the dragon fruit cactus grows for you!
$29.00 sounds a little expensive for a Cymbidium...however, I guess certain
varieties can be a little high priced!

It's common practice in here in CA. for people to separate these plants and give them to a friend or family. : > )

If they grow like wildflowers that sure makes sense, D1. I'm still dreaming of a nice solarium!

Lori:

They're very widely grown in CA...however, most of the time they're grown in big pots or in raised planters. I hope you get your solarium soon! : > )
