Millie Kitten !

This is Millie.
She's seven and a half years old but looks and acts like a little kitten :-))
She's up ontop of the wardrobe in small, dog bed that they've abandoned for the last year ..... they re-discovered it last week and have been using it again !

Thanks girls :-))

Irish, yup, that bed's still up ontop of the wardrobe, she jumps from a chest of drawers up onto it !!!

TT, she's tiny.
She had a very bad start in life and when i took her from the RSPCA at 6 months old she'd been rehomed by them twice already ..... i was her 3rd taker !
She was returned by the 2 previous 'takers' because she was so timid and wouldn't come out of hiding.
To boot ..... she couldn't eat because her gum disease was so bad ..... consequently she was undernourished ...... and after having her a month all her teeth had to come out :-(

From then on though, without the discomfort of a painful mouth, she ate everything that was put infront of her and despite being so small she's come on in leaps and bounds and is a healthy little cat !

After having her a couple of months i took a picture of her to the RSPCA cattery, playing with a little toy red mouse, and showed her how she was getting on ...... they told me when i took her away they were taking bets on how soon i'd return her !

I really believe i was the best owner for that little cat :-)))
I have the patience to do everything at her speed and although criticised for being too soft with her it's all paid off because she's developed into the best
cat ever :-)))))))))

Lovely story how you've helped little Millie.
...well done xxx

Well done Louise, you have done a good job on little Millie!

she looks very much like my Phoebe also a rescue cat. :)

Did Millie lose all her teeth and if so does it make any difference to her diet?
For instance can she eat dried food? I guess the answer is no!

6 Feb, 2010

That'd be a wrong guess Rm !!!
Millie eats biscuit but i have to make sure it's the tiny stuff because she swallows it whole (maybe gums it a bit before!), i buy Royal Canin because they make small shapes and she doesn't choke on them.

She only has her very small front teeth .... no incisors or back teeth and, because of the gum disease these teeth can just drop out :-(

I found her last incisor on the floor a couple of weeks ago, i'd noticed her making odd movements with her mouth and didn't put two and two together, and the tooth was fine ..... SO sad :-(((

She has meat aswell as her biscuit, plus she has all her treats which are human food ...... meats, fish, poulty ...... :-)))))))))))

Awww bless her. You're so good giving her the love and care she needs. My 2 black kitts have a few white hairs under their chin, Ronnie has more than Roxy. Funnily enough, our black labrador also has a few white hairs there too.

I absolutely love black cats Dawn :-))))))))))
Their fur is so different, much softer and sleeker, Millie's looks very, very dark brown when seen against sunlight ..... i always wonder if she's got posh ancestry somewhere waaay back ;-))

7 Feb, 2010

I've not had a black cat before Louise. These two are very dark brown too, I asked the vet last week if they were dark brown and she said if they wash each other alot - which they do - something in their saliva makes them brown rather than black. In sunlight, ours also have very dark tabby markings on their sides.

Mills gets terrible furballs, i wonder if that's to do with the fine hairs ??
It looks like a long browny-black sausage (??!!) on the floor ..... it's dense, matted fur :-/

7 Feb, 2010

Who picks that up then, ha ha. Could be Louise, Jess never had fur balls - she was tortoishell.

7 Feb, 2010

LOL, certainly not the other half, Dawn.
They do indeed look like they've been 'passed' and he refuses to go anywhere near them. Idiot.

Wussey men, lol

Indeed (scowl).

In our house,Rachel picks up the fur balls!
She loves Phoebe and is very caring towards her.
I am glad Millie has a varied diet.
Today I found some (hard copy) pics of Phoebe when she was a year old. I will scan a couple for the files! :)
I had Phoebe from the RSPA when she was a year old. She had had two kittens already.
She had been living as a stray and was thin and dark brown instead of black.
When I saw her, one of the kittens had been given to someone,.. The other was a beautiful black and white tweed effect - most unusual. I wish I had taken them both, but I knew OH wouldnt have been happy....

Phoebe is the most intelligent cat I have ever had out of four. She understands "stuff" like a dog.
