November fog

This pic of the river Dee at Chester was taken at a place that thousands of pics are taken but very in the fog. It's nice to see that the ducks aren't forgotten.

I can feel the dampness from here heron.

2 Nov, 2009

I like that, thank goodness though we don't have those horrible smogs any more :)

2 Nov, 2009

Really captures the mood....:>)

Beautiful picture so serene looking

2 Nov, 2009

Lovely!!

2 Nov, 2009

Excellent shot........

Thanks for all your complements but I forgot to mention that I bought the photo at a jumble sale for 20p, I've no idea who took it but as soon as the weather suits I intend to copy it. A local artist (Wendy Sutton) who's also a friend painted it in watercolour, it was only hanging in her exhibition for a matter of minutes when someone bought it, for a lot more than 20p.

23 Nov, 2009

20 what a bargain.......good luck with your painting....

23 Nov, 2009

eer no I'll be photographing the scene, no way could I paint it lol.

23 Nov, 2009

Give it a go, Heron! :~))

23 Nov, 2009

I will Mad, but have you noticed, we don't seem to get fog like years ago. Do you remember Sinatra singing "A foggy day in London Town" ?

24 Nov, 2009

Don't speak too soon you never know what's around the corner !
I remember 2 really thick fogs about 20 years ago. Having to drive at 2mph from Bramham to York and it took me hours to get home. Another was driving on the A1 from Sheffield to York. It was so frightening.

24 Nov, 2009

Nope! Cant stand Sinatra! I was scared of him as a kid!!

24 Nov, 2009

I was a big fan of Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Dean Martin Perry Como and the like, Today we have Will Young, I haven't 'the foggiest' idea why anyone would like him. but today you don't need to be able to sing. I'm not 'square' as I do like the voices of Amey Weinhouse and Duffy but somehow I doubt that they will ever perform like our Shirley Bassey when they get older.

25 Nov, 2009

I was brought up on Sinatra and Ella Heron. Stll love them to this day, along with Satchmo !! :~)

25 Nov, 2009

Having the new Shirley Bassey for Christmas from daughter 1, it is lovely so different from her usual medium.......

25 Nov, 2009

I've heard it DD. All songs written by modern contemporary artistes. It's VERY good and I admire Dame Shirley very much for doing it :~)

25 Nov, 2009

You and me both Sue........

Every generation rejects the music of their parents but I wonder if the new generation will take to their Grandparents music. Once a week I wander around Chester with a friend, we talk a lot but the main interest is photography. He's a brilliant photographer and hopefully a little will rub off on me. We're a bit like Compo and Cleggy and usually end up in 'The Blue Moon' Cafe for coffee and a home made flap jack. What's this to do with music, well the place is covered in memorabilia from Elvis to Ella. The music and video is fantastic and situated on the riverside it's a popular place. The music takes me way back to the days when I did a lot more than I knew. Now I know a lot more than I did , Lol.

27 Nov, 2009

So true Heron ! lol That sounds like a fantastic cafe, even the name 'Blue Moon' ! Music can do that can't it, you hear the opening bars and you're back there.... wonderful ! :~)

27 Nov, 2009

I'd like to be there right now, rather than getting ready to go to work !

27 Nov, 2009

Louise You could do a 'Shirley Valentine' Lol

27 Nov, 2009

LOL

27 Nov, 2009

The Blue Moon DOES sound good! I loved Elvis, Cliff, the Beatles etc. my mum played them all the time! I even "ran away" when I was 5 cos no-one would take me to see Summer Holiday (I went on my own) & I was determined I was going to marry Cliff (up til I was 7!)

27 Nov, 2009

I was going to marry him too ..... up until about the same age !! LOL ;~))

27 Nov, 2009

Amazing how fickle we are, eh??

27 Nov, 2009

Lol ! I've still got an original single of 'Living Doll' from 1959 ! :~)

27 Nov, 2009

Hee hee! It was no.1 the day I was born!!

27 Nov, 2009

Fancy that !! lol :~))

27 Nov, 2009

Fancy me remembering it!! My mum used to go on about it!!

27 Nov, 2009

Tee hee ;~)

27 Nov, 2009

My dad still sings it to me when he's bladdered!!

27 Nov, 2009

Mine and Dad's record was Something Stupid by Frank and Nancy. We had one of the old reel to reel tapes and recorded ourselves singing it !! lol Nearly killed me when Robbie Williams brought it out the other Christmas.

27 Nov, 2009

I actually liked that! Even tho I hate Sinatra!
But I quite liked the Robbie version too!

28 Nov, 2009

So did I, but with Dad no longer being around, it brought back so many memories :~)

28 Nov, 2009

Whether you prefer old singers (who could sing as you could only listen to them then) or 'modern 'performers', It would be nice to see a revival of some of the old classics that had good lyrics too. Like most of you I watch/listen to 'Strictly' What spoilt it for me was the so called singers in the band. However for the last two shows the singing has improved.

28 Nov, 2009

I haven't watched this series Heron, but I must take a look. Good job that you don't watch the 'other' side at the same time. You'd be hard pressed to find any singers at all ! lol

28 Nov, 2009

I'm reluctant to comment on the 'other side' type programmes for fear that I would sound a bit snobby. I dislike strongly those type programmes as they drag standards down. For our futures sake we should be looking up not down. 'Strictly' is a quality show and good family Saturday night entertainment. It took me years to get my Bronze in Ballroom so I can appreciate how hard they work. Mind you I think I'd do better in the hands of Erin and co.

28 Nov, 2009

Yes, they really know their stuff don't they ? You wouldn't be snobby for making a comment on what is a blatent manipulation of people to spend money ! No wonder Mr. Cowell is a multi millionaire !! :~((

28 Nov, 2009

Q is for quality whether it be drama, comedy or general entertainment.
E is for emotion which seems, sadly to appeal to most today. There's enough emotion in life today, lets hope that Archie Norman will offer the BBC some real competition when he takes over at ITV. I've followed his career and I recon if anyone can Archie can.

28 Nov, 2009

Well here's hoping that he can Heron. Something needs to be done :~)

28 Nov, 2009

I find Strictly amazing! I wanted to learn ballroom when I was 16 & went to lessons in a leaky attic! I slipped on the wet floor one day, & ended up with my skirt over my head & was too embarrassed to go back, lol!

28 Nov, 2009

LMAO !!

28 Nov, 2009

Hee hee! Wasnt funny at the time!! I was mortified!!

28 Nov, 2009

Yeh, you're used to it these days !! lol ;~)))

28 Nov, 2009

LMAO!! Huh! Cheeky B!!
Now I just dont attempt ballroom!!
Still giggling at that! :~))))

28 Nov, 2009

That was just calling out to me... SOH doing a rapid return ! ;~)

28 Nov, 2009

'Skirt over your head', Mad you were way ahead of your time. Just think, they do a rondo, whisk, fishtail ect. If you'd kept at it there would be a Madperth move now. I enjoyed my time dancing, met some nice people, had some embarrassing moments too.

28 Nov, 2009

Good! Glad to hear it!
Oi, Heron! You snuck in there!
It was WAY too undignified, believe me!!

28 Nov, 2009

Come on Heron. You can't just give us a taster ! lol What was your most embarrassing moment ?? ;~))

28 Nov, 2009

Sorry, Heron! Just had a CRAFT moment!

28 Nov, 2009

OK Sue, We went to a sequence dance and knowing a little Rumba we thought we'd try something called the Rumba 1 needless to say we hadn't a clue how to do it and went twice around the floor in a bedraggled mess. The embarrassing moment was when we tried to sneak off the floor to a loud applause.

28 Nov, 2009

Lol! I love it!!

28 Nov, 2009

And me !! lol But at least you had a go Heron ! :~))

28 Nov, 2009

So you wouldnt take Richard Gere's part in "Shall We Dance?" then?

28 Nov, 2009

Richard Gere can keep his parts Mad, they're probably showing more signs of ware n' tear than mine lol. I seldom go to 'the fiicks' nowadays mainly because of my dog who gives me one of his looks when I put my 'polished' shoes on.

29 Nov, 2009

'Cause he knows he's not going with you ....bless him. They don't need to talk do they ? :~)

29 Nov, 2009

Lol! But he looks good on it!! Wear & tear or not!!

29 Nov, 2009

And here's me trying to be a lady by not mentioning aforesaid 'parts' ! LOL ;~))

29 Nov, 2009

Why bother, Sue?? Lol!

29 Nov, 2009

Yep !! In one hen ! LOL

29 Nov, 2009

You ok?

29 Nov, 2009

Fine bab !! Just noting the fact that Heron said ... 'probably' ?? ;~)

29 Nov, 2009

LMAO!! Hee hee!
