I can remember Simba the lion kept at Sandown Zoo along the seafront and where we lived at Lake we could hear him roaring first thing in the morning and they used to walk one of the big spotted cats along the beach on a lead. this was in the late sixties and early seventies.

LOL... gotta love them too! so make the meercats,lemurs and penguins...most entertaining animals at the zoo!

The zoo is a sanctuary for the large cats now.
