It looks huge! Love the frilly edges to the petals.

Thank you, Elke. My first year with these lilies. I can smell them from about 30 feet away.
I am disappointed with my garden in general this year. I'm not sure what has happened but aphids are in huge numbers..Maybe from the high temps and little rain, but they have eaten many things. I also think the flooding last fall and this spring might have rotted a lot of roots, a lot of lupins did not come up.
But....The lilies and tulips have done quite well...I will be sticking with the bulbs this fall. A lot of my daylilies have grown but did not bloom, too... Any hints on that? (I know you have a lot of great daylilies)..

Take heart, NN - gardens and plants can be temperamental, and have up and down years. This year we had NO raspberries, despite the fact that there were some blossoms. Most of our stuff came up in abundance, but a couple of peonies disappointed. You've posted some gorgeous photos this year, so there was some 'up' for you. Perhaps next year will be different. Can't offer any advice on the day lilies, sorry - they just keep coming here...

Just an aside about these lilies and their scent - I used to tutor triplet boys when they were 8, 9 and 10. They were returning to England and had driven an hour to come and say goodbye to me. They brought me a bunch of these as a gift, and when the mini van drew up in the drive, the side door flew open, and 3 bodies flung themselves out, all gulping for air, and making a great show of impending suffocation. The scent of the lilies was so strong that they had all been trying to hold their breath for the drive, and were so relieved to hand the bunch over to me! I still miss them, they're all at university now...

Thanks, Elke..I must remember the things that did well, and not those that didn't(the glass is half FULL).
Wonderful story about the boys you tutored. I hope the experience didn't turn them from lilies. lol...What did you tutor them in? I've never met triplets in my life, must have been great, and especially to know that your teaching has helped them on a path to greater learning.
