Being a more seasoned gardener than me, do these need repotting at intervals. We repotted this one into the pot you see as it was in a smaller pot but how big do/can they grow?

All the bottom spines turn brown and eventually just pull out but Ali said that's fine. Do youthink it would be worth planting in th garden and if so, what sort of location? Part shade or full sun?

They're great and along with Ali's Aser and my Fatsa, it's one of my favourites.

i have one in pot which is deaper than the one you have, i always pull dead spines off every year but its still ok, they dont seem to mind dry soil, and sun, infact mine seem ok where ever i pop it,

It needs a Bigger pot Billie, It will eventually grow into a Tree, The brown Spikes you pull off will reveal a Trunk underneath, How Fab is that :))) You have the making of a Tropical border with your Acer Fatsia and Cordyline... If you plant it in the garden go for your Sunniest spot..

Thanks YDD. Gonna leave it for now as I have an idea where it can go when we start on the other side of the garden - it can go near the Fatsia!

Ali has had one before and they are cool looking plants I must say..I'll take some pics when she's eventually moved out and bedded in :0)-
