12th. April.

I didn’t quite realize just how many tulips I had in the garden. It’s a pity they aren’t all in the same place as they realy would make a spectacular show.

Tulip – Buff Beauty.

This little one above, about 5 inches tall, grows in my gravel garden.

Wrongly planted for the height of the bulb, in a little trough on the window sill, down the drive getting all the wind from passing traffic, hence out of focus, wouldn’t stay still. lol.

Tulip – Queen of the Night

Very similar to the one below.

Tullip – Ronaldo

Also looks good in pot or trough

Tulip – Triumph Gavota

Tulip batalini – Bright Gem

This one is lovely for a pot or even a hanging planter.

Well, there you are. Planted all around the garden, so just a glimpse here & there.
Hardly a Dutch bulb field :o((

Better than a Dutch bulb field because they are in your own garden where you can see them all the time :o))

they are lovely! i like that pink frilly one and the dark reds but most of all the red and yellow ones; i bought some for my sister that have come up now ~ doubles and a deep purple. i have to try harder with tulips cos i havent been very successfull ~ looking at your photos they are definitely worth while!

Thank you Hywel, Yes I do like the white ones sixpence, I grow them under the silver birch trees, Sticki I very often buy them to put in pots, then get fed up with them & pop them in the garden hence they get spread around a bit.

i have planted some in the garden but they either dont come up at all or they are rather poor; i wonder if the squirrels eat them; i shall try them in pots next time.

Mine are ok first year but then they seem to not do as well, only one of the pretty double pink ones i had last year has come into flower, think i'll take them out the pot though maybe not deep enough for a second showing...:o(

What a lovely display of colour, Pam - they are all quite different. I haven't grown any for years. Do you leave yours in the ground all the time or dig them up each autumn ?

Sixpence, I'm sorry but that is one that has been in the ground for a few years & dispite several ways of labeling the labels still disappear. Sewingkilla, the ones I grow in pots are very deep pots, usually ones that have had a clematis grown in and Mariek, some in pots some in the ground. Sticki I'm not sure about squirrels I only get the odd one now & then.

I have only just seen these pics Pamd.
It reminded me - about 4 or 5 years ago my son brought me some tulip bulbs from Holland, in a bag marked "Black Frilled Parrot tulip" or something like that. They have bloomed beautifully eversince - - - bright yellow!!!! Ha!! :-))))
