My New Water Feature or Can anyone build me a raft?

It has rained and rained and rained, water stood everywhere. Hope that it soon goes down and that the plants are not drowned. Have never had as much water stood in and around the garden.

This part of the garden always stands in water when we have had rain storms but never has it had as much as this. The backdoor path was three inches deep in water this morning but is now just a little puddle. So it is going at last and the sun is shining for the time being. More rain tonight and tomorrow, just hope they have got it wrong.

Hope you are not as wet as we all are but fear that you might be. Keep smiling everyone, summer is on its way.
:O)

I think you deserve a like Barbara in view of the fact that we are sharing this glorious weather, lol, its been like it since Thursday afternoon, started with a cracking thunderstorm, sunshine at last 4.25pm but still more rain to come I fear, all ponds topped up and butts overflowing, like you we do have ponds where they aren't s'posed to be.
Keep your chin up and wellies handy....

Thanks Lincs it is sunny at the minute but beginning to darken again, just been for a walk around and to take some more pictures before it comes down again. I cannot see much damage so fingers crossed it will soon recover. Just a very very wet garden. lol :O) think that is a bit of an understatement really, its flooded out lol. :O) I am an optimist so I do not get down about the weather only if it keeps me indoors too much. lol and that aint going to happen. Bought lots of plants for hanging baskets this morning - and to plant up in an old jam pan I have. Only went for trailing lobelia to put in with the trailing Tiarellas and came home with all sorts. Geraniums not the hardy kind (pelargoniums) and Hardy fuschia and some not hardy fushia and some Coleus because I just could not resist the colours. lol. Well it was chucking it down and I did get wet so you just have to treat yourself now don't you! lol :O) this is what happens when cricket has been put off because of wet and soggy pitches. I had to find something to fill my day with. lol :O)

Slightly further west than you two in Leicestershire. .........such heavy rain here too, the puddles on the roads are half way across some, it did bate a bit and the sun came out but now the winds got up and......down it comes again.....thankful to live on a hill!

Been raining heavily here since Thursday, and most of the day today. After dropping my FS to his friend's house, on the way back I stopped at two garden centres, they were very busy, I bought some plants of course. :)). Got back home, managed to plant two new patio roses, then the rain came down again...still got some alpine plants to plant, don't think it is going to happen this evening :(

Oops, I shouldn't have pressed "like" Barbara ! Force of habit !Its been just as bad here , but the garden doesn't flood like yours ! I hope it doesn't get into the house if you have more ! I hope this isn't going to be a wet summer after that lovely one we had last year ! Still...what can we do ! Oh ..I know...come on here ! Hahaa!

It is raining again, but no worries Rose, it will not come inside, the drains cope well with it and we have dykes all in front of the house, quite deep ones too. Its just that this part is the lowest in the garden and the fish pond drains over if there is a lot of rain and it flows down to this lowest part. Stay positive, the summer is going to be good it is, it is, it is! as you say nothing we can do, we can still get out there when it is dry and we do not have to water this month at least. lol. :O)

It does look pretty though, with all the reflections...

I'm feeling your pain Oliveoil - this was how my garden looked in 2012!
I do hope it dries up soon for you - if for nothing else save your sanity!!

I hope you don't have fish in your pond then Barbara as they might float away ! In our first home Rick had 3 ponds , one very large and made of concrete. Although it was very deep, one day it overflowed that much that a neighbour knocked on our door and said that the fish which were coy carp were actually floating down the street and we just managed to catch them before they disappeared down the drain ! Its good that you have the dykes too !

I knew it had rained Barbara but didn't realise it was that bad!!! I was nice and dry inside Frenchgate at Doncaster, suppose that's the good thing about living on top of a hill it drains fast, I haven't been down the garden yet !!!.
Hope yours drains away quickly :-)

Oy vey you've had some rain.

Like the rest of you we've been stuck inside for the most part with it absolutely throwing it down. Had a pretty good thunderstorm last night as well (knocked the lights out for a minute at one point).

I got an absolute soaking after work on Friday. Had just nipped down to the GC for some compost and got side tracked by the plants :-) (has to be done). Was half way round when it chucked it down. Carried on mind, just ended up looking a bit like a drowned rat. Still the plants (delphiniums - one white and one blue -, cosmos and something else that I can't remember made up for it)

Fingers crossed it dries up soon. Hope your flood doesn't get any worse.

Thanks everyone for your concerns, it does drain very quickly here, we too are on top of a hill so it goes away quite quickly or drains off into the dykes around the house. In fact Paul has just popped his head in doors and said it has nearly all gone, yipee off out to have a look and see how much damage I have to deal with, thanks again for looking in and your good wishes. :O)

Oh dear, what a mess. We've had buckets of rain here too Oliveoil, but nothing like what you've obviously had. It's so distressing isn't it when the weather causes havoc and there's nothing we can do about it.
I hope you find everything is OK when you've managed to get out there and check on things.

It had all gone down by the following afternoon Dd.it was stood again yesterday but only little puddles in the same spot. Very wet out in the borders around this area, the water has nowhere to go now, just stands everytime it rains. There are a couple of roses which are not happy but eh ho if they die they do. I will have to put something else in their place. Only trouble is nothing likes really to be stood in water for any length of time. Should have put the pond in there and not at the top of the garden. lol. Hindsight eh!!

You could always go for a bit of a big garden there if the rain keeps up: which it's bound to lol.

Glad it drained away quickly.
