Empty Fish Pond.

After losing our 4 big Koi’s earlier in the year to a neighbours cat, 10 to our Daisy over feeding them , i counted about 3 small ghost koi’s and about 10 or so black orph’s (i think thats how you spell it), left in the pond, came home yesterday from work and my next door neighbour came out and said he had seen a heron down there earlier and chased it away ,but he couldn’t see any fish left .So went to have a look and… nothing! Not even a ripple.. only the frog remains ….
Never mind start again …. Note to self .. get netting.. …….electric netting .:o((

Definitely time for netting! Sorry to hear you've lost them all.

oh sad.... yes definitely time for netting, kind of a compromise though isn't it, we want to see fish swimming happily as close to nature as we can get and a swathe of netting doesn't help!

Its never been a problem before cos we had an old farmer in the village, with a big pond, and a big gun but he died last year and i never thought about it ..

Sorry to hear you`ve lost your fish again, I keep my pond covered because not only do I have my own cats but also a neighbour gets a regular visit from a heron. As you said start again, hopefully you might still have some little ones hiding at the bottom.............

Hi Mb oh what a pain, and a real shame, those heron's, they are a pest but if you do get more have a word with our newcomer Frankf4 he may give you some good advice, he has a huge Koi pool. I do believe (but not sure) that the big plastic herons are a good deterrent.

Oh dear. They are really expensive to replace, I know - so you'll have to take some preventative measures before buying more heron food, won't you!
