Cromarty 2019

Another wonderful week in Cromarty (tenth visit since 2003). How we love this place! 13 of us this year – a bit lively with three toddlers (plus two “older” brother and sister…) However…!

It is as beautiful as ever and we have had lovely weather, showers on one day only. I am always so impressed by the gardens here. Most of the ones I have photographed are a literal stone’s throw from the Cromarty Firth. (Speaking of which, it has been busy this week. We have enjoyed watching a huge submersible ship off-loading vast concrete blocks, eventually headed for Aberdeen harbour. Work there has overrun, they are not ready for the concrete blocks so they are being “stored” here in the firth. The ship is being pulled this way and that by up to six tugs – some from Germany, some from France – just in time, dare I say it? – it has been very interesting to watch. Not sure whether grandson or son-in-law was more thrilled!)

So, on the last day of our holiday (why does it suddenly gallop from Wednesday onwards?) I am offering some
pictures of Cromarty gardens.

Roll on 2021!

I can tell how very much you love this place and how special it is for you all. It is wonderful to find somewhere that means so much and gives so many happy memories. It looks very pretty and well cared for.

I'd only hear its name on the shipping forecast and didn't even know it was a village! What a lovely little spot, so peaceful and well cared for - no wonder you keep returning!

Quite right, Wildrose. I am pleased to find the pots in the garden have survived the week - there was obviously more rain here than in Cromarty. The only victims are a few of the lobelia, which cannot survive without regular watering. I have been catching up on the deadheading!

It is a lovely place, Steragram. There are more holiday cottages than there used to be, and certainly more visitors than when we started to go there. It’s not quite such a well- kept secret as it was, but it does seem to be thriving!
