Revamp of pool area.

Yet another change, one which had been niggling for awhile…….The first photo shows the poolside with the ever increasing green’ carbuncle’ obstructing the Juniper Sky rocket(which was browning up due to lack of light) behind and completely hiding the beautiful Acer.

These had to be removed……a task in itself, having been there 20years…….my OH helped to shave the entire tree down to the bare trunk……not having a chainsaw, we called on our usual treeman who took secs to saw the trunk as close to the ground as possible. The Juniper came out very easily.
Next we added bags of garden soil, compost and manure….forked it all in before the best bit of planting!
Before that, the large rocks had to be arranged which took longer than imagined.

Planted some Primulas, white Lavender,Hebe Margaret, Gauria pink,Festuca Glauca, and transplanted a few edging plants from the garden. Will add some bulbs in the Autumn. The Choysia may require a trim too.

The last couple of photos show the finished area, which I’m quite pleased with…..it has opened up the pool much more.Wish I’d done this years ago…..always the way!

Here’s to yet another rethink of this garden!

You were right to get rid, I did it recently with two Cupressus and it makes such a difference doesn't it … I'm glad you were also able to plant some more things there.

That's amazing! What a difference, you did the right thing. I know it's always a bit of a "do I, don't I" when it comes to cutting down trees or large shrubs, but just sometimes it's the right thing to do.
