My World This Week

This week has seen a sudden leap forward – bulbs are bursting out – shrubs are beginning to show tiny green buds – certainly a boost to morale and a sudden urge to get out there and start to set seeds and take stock.

This Torbay Palm was taken by the bad winter 2010/2011 – it was cut down much to the dismay of us all and now it is starting to grow again – originally it came to us in a small pot – so is an old friend – it now has a new companion – new plant on the block a witch hazel

This week to date I have set Antirrhinium – cress – lobelia – sweet peas and broad beans in the green house and have taken cuttings off surfina plugs bought from the local garden centre and pelargoniums that have been overwintered

I have ordered 3 white poppies Papaver Orientale Casino from Hayloft and a free rose – well nearly free ! plus postage and packing – from David Austin called Susan Williams – Ellis a white fragrant old English Rose – an offer out of the Gardening News

I am attaching a few pics from our walk today in the Park – the first Camellias are coming out and daffs and of course more snowdrops

There are many walkways to take each one with its own special view – such as the river – the old cedar tree or even if you are very lucky a red deer

I am looking forward to reading your news – I am off now to set more seeds and have a good tidy up in the greenhouse – before the allotment takes over!
