Daffodils and Spring

Good day Gardeners and Friends,

One of my favourite poems by William Wordsworth is ‘I wandered lonely as a cloud’ better known as ‘Daffodils’. I learned this at the age of eleven and all these years later 51 (to be precise) I can still recite it. Near to my home in Jersey, there are lots of fields and country lanes. In spring I so look forward to taking my grandchildren for walks, as they are awash with daffodils, a veritable sea of undulating yellow, waves. Each time I look at this spectacle, the words of this poem immediately spring to mind, ‘When all at once I saw a crowd, A host, of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze’. It is odd to think of Spring when we are just into Autumn, but I am thinking, if I set to and plant as many daffodil bulbs as I can, now, whilst the soil is still soft and the weather still warm enough, I can have this wonderful Springtime vision in my own garden ‘and then my heart with pleasure fills and dances with the daffodils’.’

Have a great day love Maggie

Sounds as though you are in the right place for Daffodils Maggie. they give you a real lift don't they, and so many varieties prolong the season too.

Hi Maggie ... welcome to GoY :)
It's nice to look forward to the spring, and we have to plan for it in the autumn.
I hope you get a brilliant lot of daffodils next year :)

I hope you will still be on here then, and you'll be able to show us some photos of them :o)
