I found buried treasure, now need to decide what to do with it!

So glad the weather was on my side today we have only had a slight drizzle here at times.Today has been hard work,I first took cuttings from my rosemary plants and then proceeded to dig the plants out, there were six in total and i only managed to save three intact as the roots were so deep lol!I was having a real job with one of the first plants and discovered why,it had its roots wrapped round a railway sleeper that had been buried in the border fairly deep as i have never found it while weeding before!
There are two long steps down to the border that have room for a planting pocket ,maybe some alpines I was thinking?
Swept it and hosed it down as it is quite a good find(a pot of gold would have been slightly better though!)I would like a way to use it in the garden as I feel it lives here now!Is there a trick to cleaning it or will it just dry out now in the air do you think?Well any ideas very welcomed for my new long border,I have a flowering cherry and some hollyhocks coming in the post soon to start me off.
Tomorrow weather (and boys!) permitting I plan to give it a really good dig and add some goodness to the clay soil.Thats also if my back allows me too as I am starting to feel the affects of moving out the railway sleeper lol!

Be careful. Railway sleepers are heavy ( as if you didn't know ). I used to slide them along in the other garden. I'd never be able to do it now. lol

Sounds like you did a great job Linda. Just be careful of your back. You don't want to do any lasting damage. :o)
