Hi Everyone, We wish you a very Happy New Year and hope that 2016 holds many good things for you, and a good gardening year too. We slept through any fireworks. There is a good frost this morning covering the lawns and car. I am enjoying going out for short walks and being out in the fresh air. My new knees get a bit stiff by the evening and I still get a bit of discomfort from them but the pain I had before is no longer!!! Early days yet but am progressing. Lovely to walk hand in hand and not have to use the crutches.
Yesterday we went to Ogsten reservoir and saw quite a few different wildfowl. The second picture is of a flock of Lapwings we saw at the reservoir in the fields across the road. There were lots of little birds in the trees.
Today, when it warms up a bit before it rains, we are going for a wander round the River Gardens down the road. First picture included. Anyway have a lovely New Year. Linda. x

A Happy New Year to you and Gerry too,Linda.I am so glad you are recovering well, and it will be a good year for you,I'm sure..
We have a frost here this morning too.only white rooftops,so not too bad,but like you,we are forecast more rain later...as if we haven't had enough here ! Things are progressing slowly but surely .and another Bridge has developed cracks,so that will be three damaged or destroyed so far. This last one at Brighouse is still being assessed for safety..So many fantastic people coming from far and wide with offers of help..take care, and enjoy your walk.xx

Happy new year to you and yours, Linda, so pleased to hear how well your new knees are doing. That must be a greatv relief. Frosty here too but very light. Torrential rain yesterday but nothing like other areas have suffered. They have neve been far from our thoughts.

Happy new year to you and yours Linda. Pleased to hear how well you're getting on with your new knees - long may it continue.

Cold and frosty here as well this morning. Actually feels like winter today.

Hi Bloomer, Thanks for your kind thoughts. I feel sorry for the people who have had flooding problems. It must be awful for them. Also the old bridges cracking with the strain of the extra flow of water behind them. The farmers must be finding it hard to cope too with wondering what to do with their animals.
Hi HB. Thanks.... It was a bit nippy in the park but we were well wrapped up. There was still some ice about. Plenty of wildfowl on the river. Waiting to be fed by passers by I expect. It's strange weather this year, and the forecasters say it's going to get warmer again.
Hello Gee, thanks for your kind thoughts too. Having your home flooded once must be awful, but to keep on happening must be devastating. The rain did come down heavily yesterday but not for too long.
Thanks Sam, yes nature must have had a shock last night. I wonder how the hedgehogs are doing with their hibernation having it so variable. Some of the roses and trees are beginning to sprout again.

Thanks Wildrose and a Happy New Year to you too. It's good to hear all the birdsong. We had a pair of Blue tits looking at our box yesterday....far too early.
