The Ferns in my garden

I don`t really know anything about ferns but I appreciate their beauty, yours look lovely. :o)

No 10 is only one that is distinct enough to possibly identify Will look in the fern bed in the morning and let you know.

You have a wonderful selection Linda how wonderful you have them growing in such a wonderful part of your garden, so natural looking like a secret garden, my favourite film, when I was a child use to watch it every week in espisodes.

Linda, this is absolutely beautiful. I love ferns as well. That shuttlecock fern looks just like our native ostrich fern (same genus). I love the pathway with the ferns crowding close on either side. It looks like an enchanted forest.

No 10 is very close to one i have Dryopteris Affinis Cambensis Crispa.But you would need an expert to be 100%.
I try hard to keep the labels on them but they are in the ground and every thing wants to pull them out, from Magpies to Squirrels( they chew them)

Perhaps it would be better Bjs to take the labels out and draw a diagram of where they go in your garden and keep for future reference.

What a good idea. Are you offering, Will provide a bed and three meals a day,It will take a little while as a lot of the labels have faded lol, O forgot to mention its a bit over a quarter of an acre so you will need your drawing board as well.

Lol Bjs sounds good will be there in a few hours lol take pictures like I do then, have found some of my plants by going back on my pictures just take the surrounding area with prominant plants around them.

I don't know what the collective noun for a collection of ferns would be, but you've got it. I thought Sixpence's suggestion re naming is a good idea. Must do the same. However, my 'collection' of ferns is very modest in comparison with yours. The great value of the ferns is that they actually thrive in the south (but shaded) border where more or less the only other thing which will grow are the hellebores and the brunnera . Fortunately, ferns, brunnera, bergenia and hellebores make a good combination. But my fernery (ah, is that the word?) has a long way to go to match yours!

I don't think I've seen your garden before Linda, it's beautiful and your ferns are gorgeous, the one at the bottom of your steps is amazing.

That Fern is yellowish green and is an evergreen. I will look for a small plant once the new leaves appear.
