Sweet Peas Summer 2025

This summer my Sweet Peas have been busy blooming!
I started most of these late January, and some the beginning of February. They started to bloom a little later than usual. Our spring was very cold and rainy so I didn’t tranplant them until the end of may. They usually go in the garden by mid may. I have wanted to plant a yellow sweet pea for years and just never did. I am so glad I finally did.
I have 2 plants and everyday I pick 6-8 blooms off of one and at least 3 blooms off of the other. They are bursting with yellow flowers. They are a form of sweet pea, but they do not have any fragrance, I love them anyway!
This next one is called “Linda Carole” I love the red and white colors. It is light in fragrance. There is usually 2 or 3 blooms on a stem.
This red-orange beauty is called “Firecrest”. I used the last of the seeds I had this year. The company in England doesn’t ship to the US anymore so I don’t know what I will do. I am going to try and let some of the flowers go to seed and hopefully I can grow again next year.
This one is called “Sir Jimmy Shand” and it is so far the most fragrant one of the year. It is a lovely fragrance and you notice it right away. I wish the others were this strong in fragrance. They are a light purple splashed onto white.
I always try to plant new varieties every year. so this year it has been “Sir Jimmy Shand” and Yellow Chloranthus". I am still waiting for “Anniversary” and “White Supreme” to bloom. I have spotted very tiny buds on the plants so I am hoping in a week or two to have blossoms! I wish I started more in Feb. I will next year for sure!
